The STM and its partners are standing guard to provide you with one of the safest public transit systems in the world.

Since June 2007, some 133 police officers from the Montréal police department (SPVM) (http://www.spvm.qc.ca/en/sur-le-terrain/1_2_3_metro_montreal.asp) have been assigned to work directly in the métro and its surrounding areas to ensure the security of transit clients and business owners. They enforce the by-laws established by the STM and assist STM inspectors in their duties. The latter are responsible for enforcing regulations pertaining to the possession and use of transit fares.
